The MC process for Eta Alpha has officially begun and I couldn't be more excited. This is my favorite time of the year and I am happy to be the VPM for Eta Alpha for the second time in a row. Last year was a valuable experience for me and I was extremely honored by my chapter to be elected for a second year in a row. The position is much more familiar to this year, I am much more confident in my abilities to lead yet another class through their MC process into the wonderful chapter of Eta Alpha. This year we have a wonderful group of membership candidates. We have ten in total, nine girls and one boy. They are each valuable in their own way and I couldn't be more proud of them thus far. They have accomplished so many things so far and I am looking forward to see what they are going to do during their time as membership candidates.
So far they have received their big sisters, big brothers and have made it through first degree. They still have a ways to go, but I have a lot of confidence in them and I know each and every one of them will become great sisters. They have come up with great ideas for class service projects and fundraisers and the best part is, is that they are having a great time doing it. No matter when I see them, they are always smiling.
Aside from the MC process, the Syracuse University Bands have been experiencing a plethora of wonderful things. Last weekend might have been one of the best weekends for a SU band member. We started the weekend off with college game day, then the Duke game, and lastly the SUPER BOWL. The Duke game was beyond exciting, I thought my heart was going to explode; luckily we won and maintained our undefeated record. Though the Duke game was fantastic, nothing, I mean nothing would ever top the experience that I had this past Sunday. Super Bowl 48...the best day in my band career.
The day started extremely early, and while I would have liked to be sleeping I knew I was about to do the coolest thing ever. I had people texting me and asking me all day about the performance and Ihad nothing but great things to say. We rehearsed with the Rutgers band and boy were we loud...extremely loud. Fast forwarding to performance time...it was epic. We ran out onto the field and there were 80,000 people. That's a lot of people. The performance was short and sweet, but it was the best way I could ever imagine ending my marching career. With that being said, the SuperUMBowl was by far the greatest thing I've ever done.
Much love,
Kimmy
